SOPHIA is an Atlanta-area political theory colloquium, established in 2012 by a group of political theorists and philosophers at Morehouse College and Spelman College. The series, which hosts three or four talks each year and at various venues in the city, caters to a community of students and scholars – together with working professionals and political figures – who are interested in broad public policy issues from the perspective of underlying theoretical and philosophical presuppositions. For more information about SOPHIA aims and objectives, please see the series mission statement. Dr. Andrew Douglas is Convenor for year 2012-2013. The interim SOPHIA Committee consists of Dr. Al-Yasha Williams (Spelman), Dr. Gregory Hall (Morehouse), Dr. Shay Welch (Spelman), Dr. Andrew Douglas (Morehouse), Dr. Kipton Jensen (Morehouse), and Dr. Preston King (Morehouse).
